Nina was blonde, gorgeous, and evil. She tore me up for nine months, this is the story.
Nine Months With Nina edition by Ryan Francis Literature Fiction eBooks
This book was recommended to me by a friend, and I was a little skeptical, as I am not typically into non-fiction, or memoirs with few exceptions. But, as I have a penchant for dark, flawed characters, it didn't seem too far out of what I'm into. The style is very casual and intimate, so it feels like the kind of story you are hearing over drinks with a close friend–who is very open and, in some instances, startlingly honest. It chronicles a toxic relationship between Ryan (the narrator) and Nina; two individuals who instantly have sexual chemistry and...a lot of awkward, cringe-worthy moments. Nina reminded me particularly of a close friend, so I probably sympathized with her more than was intended, and her antics throughout the story were simultaneously shocking and also expected.
This story is peppered with themes of substance abuse, depression and a hell of a lot of psychoanalyzing. Not to mention that there is some especially graphic sex, but definitely not in the same vein as say, erotica or Danielle Steel. Also, it is set in Boston, and references many hot spots that most locals will recognize but that isn't necessary to know them to enjoy the story.
Overall I enjoyed the characters–especially Ryan's friends who always seemed to be voicing my own opinions throughout–and the story as a whole. I would recommend it to someone looking for an interesting and relatively quick read, and definitely someone who is a fan of autobiographical non-fiction.

Nine Months With Nina edition by Ryan Francis Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I can't believe how much I LOVED this book! I bought it on a whim, expecting to find it just "ok" but it ended up being one of my favorites! I look forward to reading more from this author. I would describe it as a 50 shades of gray, without the commitment of weeks upon weeks of reading. This read is much faster.. but just as good!
easy reading!
Must read! Enjoyed every minute!! So relatable.
A refreshingly honest portrayal of how difficult modern dating has become in a drive thru culture. It captivated from beginning to end.
Was a great, tantalizing, torturing and honestly arousing read. Sucks you right in! Page turner for sure. Looking forward to what may come next.. Well done, Ryan!
Loved it, I'm from the same town as Ryan, although we all called him "Ank." And it was such a great read, I love that I knew most of the places that his dates and bro-dates took place in town. His outrageous sense of humor translates perfectly through his writing. I can't wait to hear about the next "Nina."
Illustrative to a T from a perspective many will identify deeply- as our friend Tony the Tiger would say, it was Fifty Shades of Greeeeeaaat!!!! <3 Loved it!!
